This Modern World is genius.
Just bought Living with War on the lunch hour and heard the first three songs on the way back to work. I still like it, but I have to say I'm a little disappointed in the mix on this. The guitar is way in the back. The drums certainly are loud enough, just wish they'd have brought the guitar up to match. Can't believe I'm saying this about a Volume Dealers production, but there it is. I'll give it some more time, but when I heard it before, I was hoping it was just the streaming audio that wasn't allowing that guitar to be in my face. Right now, my vote for biggest controversy with this album is not Neil's taking a stand lyrically, but rather why his guitar is not taking a stand, too!
This concerns me greatly. I ordered the CD from Amazon.com as soon as it was listed. I just got the email late last night that it had shipped (estimated delivery date is tomorrow). I guess I've been ASSuming that the mix on the CD will be better than the mp3's I've been using.
Very concerning...maybe we can call "Mickboy" and ask him to do some Neil Young work???
Yeah, how about, "Mickboy, I've got a fever, and the only cure is less hi-hat!"
At least, I think there's some guitar under there, so then maybe we'd be ok.
I really like the songs. "Living with War," especially. "Let's Impeach," too. "Let's impeach the president for highjackin'..." The pause is brilliant!
