She is, dammit. Along with Marlo Thomas' That Girl, she introduced a new character to television: the single woman. They are my role models ... next to Michael Stipe, of course.
Short answer: Yes!
Click here to read the whole story about how she came to me in a vision one evening. And she's not even dead. Now THAT takes talent!
Mary Richards has the most fabulous wardrobe and apartment, too.
Ah yes, the fabulous studio apartment. I remember when I graduated from college - I was living in Minneapolis. All my friends used to say "I'd just like a studio apartment. Maybe one like Mary Tyler Moore's." And everyone was dead serious, as if such apartments existed. Kind of like people thinking they can move to New York and get an apartment like on "Friends."
You don't live in a "Friends"-like apartment? Damn.
Yeah - do you have about 2 million dollars? Although there are people that have had apartments that large for 25 years and still pay reasonable rents due to rent control. But those numbers are dwindling. Either they get old and die at which point the rents skyrocket to market rates, or the landlord harasses them and gets them to move out. A friend of mine with an apartment like that was repeatedly "burglarized" (she knew it was the landlord trying to intimidate her.) She finally gave up and moved, sadly. If I had known her there I would have plotted some scheme to get him back.
Hi Haahnster.
Didn't the "Friends" folks throw in that Monica's apartment was her grandmother's, to stop the "who could afford that?" chat?
And, yes, you should have plotted to maim that rat bastard landlord.
Have any weekend plans, Haahnster?
Hi Mary.
